Real Engagement Stories in Minneapolis
Just when we thought real engagement stories couldn’t get more romantic or over-the-top, here comes our latest newly engaged couple with a destination proposal story and diamond engagement ring that is so amazing, they will remember it for the rest of their lives. I know we (as their jewelers) will always think fondly about our experience with them, from guiding them through the process of finding the perfect diamond engagement ring to helping David plan the perfect surprise proposal in Las Vegas, Nevada. It all started when David & Stacy strolled into our small store…
David wanted to give Stacy the opportunity to try-on engagement rings from our wide selection. It makes sense, involving the bride in the process, because it’s her ring and if she isn’t sure about what she wants or likes – how in the world is David going to pick out the perfect ring? We are extremely accomodating when we work with a soon-to-be-engaged couple, there isn’t any talk about price. Instead, it is exclusively about browsing through inventory, trying on different styles of rings and getting her opinions and feedback about what, in her mind, is the perfect diamond engagement ring. This process is different for everyone, after looking at several different styles Stacy was continuing to gravitate toward one of the first styles that I had suggested for her. It featured a beautiful carat size round diamond in the center with a cathedral setting of round diamonds on the side. Set in white gold, it was an absolutely stunning and timeless diamond engagement ring.
Stacy may have known what her ring was going to look like, but she had no idea how or when she would become the soon-to-be- Mrs. Hymes. What I like about this combination of engagement ring shopping and proposal planning is that Stacy gets some control over the process in that she gets to custom design her engagement ring from top-to-bottom to fit her preferences. On the other hand, she gets the surprise of the proposal which is such a meaningful and special moment from which their life together starts. It’s the perfect combination of control and surprise that most brides are looking for when dreaming of the day they are proposed to. Stacy could have never guessed to the lengths that David (and his jeweler!) would go to, to ensure that it was a memorable and special moment.

A Diamond at the Bellagio…
The proposal may have looked smooth and spontaneous, but the reality is that a lot of planning and work went into making this moment happen. You can tell by the look on Stacy’s face that she is completely shocked when David gets down on one knee in this moment. Along with the rose petals and the private spot overlooking the Bellagio Fountain, David chose ‘This Kiss’ by Faith Hill to play as the fountains danced as a backdrop to their magic moment. David’s parents were on hand to witness the proposal and to keep the moment from looking too forced and to avoid David looking nervous or anxious beforehand. They wanted to make sure that Stacy thought this was just a little weekend trip, a fun get-away. Instead what she got was one of the most life-changing moments that she will ever experience. The cherry-on-top of this moment was the professional photographer that not only captured the moment but was on-hand afterwords for a post-proposal shoot at the beautiful Bellagio hotel.

These photos capture not only their moment but the spirit of Vegas – where anything is possible. Proposing in front of the Bellagio fountains is an iconic experience, for those that have been to Vegas it is, surprisingly, a very romantic experience as well. Lots of couples come to Vegas to escape the everyday hustle and bustle and to let loose or do something out of the ordinary. David and Stacy’s engagement moment is a special one because it marks the beginning of the rest of their lives together. In a place as spontaneous as Vegas, their proposal proves taking the plunge and agreeing to give yourself over to another person for the rest of your life is a little crazy, kind of like Vegas. These moments in life are few and far between and the fact that David & Stacy were able to share this moment with family and friends and have the moment captured for the rest of their lives is really something.
Congrats again to the newly engaged couple! We’re absolutely thrilled for this next chapter in your life and we couldn’t be more proud to be your jeweler!
